Honor Bands

All City Jazz Band

  • 2023 Rampart HS Participants: Cate F (Trombone)
  • Location: Pine Creek High School, Colorado Springs, CO
  • When: Event usually held in December
    • 2024 Proposed Event Dates: December 9, 13, 14; concert on December 14, 2024
  • Band Students encouraged to participate: Grades 9-12
  • Selection Process:  Auditions are online only and usually due on November 1st
  • Participation Highlights: Multi Day Event with rehearsals and performance on:
    • Monday – Sectional Rehearsal 6-9PM
    • Friday – Rehearsal 4-9PM
    • Saturday Morning Rehearsal 9AM-3PM (Lunch Break)
    • Sunday Evening Performance 7PM

All City Concert Band

    • 2024 Event Dates: January 9, 12 and 13; concert on January 13
  • Band Students encouraged to participate: Grades 9-12
  • Selection Process:  Auditions are online only and usually November 1st
  • Participation Highlights: Multi-day event with:
    • Monday – Sectional Rehearsal 4-9PM (2 Hour sectional based on ensemble selection)
    • Friday – Rehearsal 4-9PM
    • Saturday Morning Rehearsal 9AM-3PM (Lunch Break)
    • Saturday Evening Performance 7PM

2024 Pikes Peak Honor Orchestra

  • Location: Mitchell High School, Colorado Springs, CO
  • When: Event usually held in January
  • Band Students encouraged to participate: Grades 9-12
  • Selection Process:  Auditions are typically the same as All State materials.  Check website in September for Audition Deadlines.

All-Colorado Honor Band Annual Festival

Hosted by Western CO University

  • Location: Western Colorado University
  • When: Festival usually held in February
    • 2024 Event Dates: February 15-17; concert on February 17
  • Band Students encouraged to participate: Grades 9-12
  • Selection Process – Members of the ensemble(s) are based on band director recommendation. Band directors and students will be notified of their admission to the festival and then be asked to submit a recorded Seating Audition.
  • Participation highlights: 3-day event with:
    • Performances by Western Colorado University’s Symphonic Band, soloists, other professional concert bands, as well as faculty and guest artist recitals. 
    • Rehearsals and sectionals with esteemed Band Directors and Clinicians, as well as social events. 
    • Performing in the Festival Honor Band Concert.

CU Boulder High School Honor Band

  • 2024 Rampart HS Participants: Ashley S (Baritone Saxophone)
  • Location: University of Colorado, Boulder
  • When: Honor Band usually held in February
    • 2024 Event Dates: February 23-24; concert on February 24
  • Band Students encouraged to participate: Grades 9-12
  • Selection Process – Auditions are online only and usually due in 4th quarter of the prior year.
  • Participation highlights: 2-day event providing:
    • Performances by the CU Boulder Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band.
    • A premier musical experience for students from across Colorado with the goal to enhance the opportunity students receive in their school band program by allowing them to meet and perform with other students. 
    • Benefit from master classes with CU Boulder faculty and a Guest Conductor, as well as ensemble rehearsals.
    • Presenting a full-length concert that demonstrates the Honor Band’s growth and development.

All State Honor Bands

  • 2024 Rampart HS Participants:
    • All-State Symphonic Band – Cate F (Trombone), Claire H (Flute/Piccolo), Ashley S (Alto/Soprano Saxophone)
  • Location: University of Northern Colorado, Greeley
  • When: Honor Band usually held in April
    • 2024 Event Dates: April 4-6; concert on April 6
  • Band Students encouraged to participate: All-State Symphonic Band – Grades 11-12; All-State Concert Band – Grades 10-12
  • Selection Process – Audition materials are announced in May, with Audition recordings typically due no later than the end of November.  Results are usually posted around mid-December for participation the following April.  Secondary audition recordings are required typically 2 to 3 weeks prior to the event to support adequate preparation and section chair assignment.
  • Participation highlights: 3-day event providing:
    • A premier musical experience for students from across Colorado with the goal to enhance the opportunity students receive in their school band program by allowing them to meet and perform with other students. 
    • Benefit from master classes with University of Northern Colorado faculty and a Guest Conductor, as well as ensemble rehearsals.
    • Presenting a full-length concert that demonstrates the Honor Band’s growth and development.

Colorado Springs Youth Symphony

    • Ovation Youth Orchestra – Nathan C (Horn), Lexy S* (Flute)
  • Local Organization with the mission to inspire young musicians to be leaders, provide artistic development and diverse musical experiences, and share exceptional music that bridges cultures.  The Colorado Springs Youth Symphony is comprised of various individual groups at different levels for strings, orchestra, winds, and jazz – and has students from over sixty schools from the Pikes Peak region participating in their programs.
